Abstract(s)
Introdução: Há uma necessidade de melhorar
os métodos de avaliação da eficácia dos
antidepressivos, no sentido dessa avaliação
permitir também incluir os parâmetros e os
sintomas que expressem mais as expectativas
de melhoria dos doentes. O presente artigo discute
esta questão a propósito da avaliação de
eficácia antidepressiva da agomelatina, particularmente
ao nível da avaliação das emoções
positivas e negativas.
Objectivos: Este artigo pretende demonstrar
como a metodologia clássica de avaliação de
eficácia dos antidepressivos é redutora. Secundariamente
aponta para a necessidade de
abertura dessa avaliação noutra direcção que
possa incluir as emoções negativas e as emo-
ções positivas associadas à sintomatologia da
depressão.
Métodos: Revisão sistemática e crítica da literatura
sobre metodologias de avaliação da
eficácia dos antidepressivos. Foi revista a literatura
sobre a eficácia da agomelatina.
Resultados / Conclusões: Discutida a avaliação
de eficácia dos antidepressivos através
das escalas Hamilton e MADRS para a depressão,
ficaram demonstradas as limitações deste
tipo de avaliação, havendo por isso necessidade
de se alargar essa avaliação a outros
parâmetros e sintomas mais valorizados pelos
doentes. Na avaliação de eficácia de agomelatina
e tendo sido avaliadas as emoções
positivas para além das emoções negativas os
resultados apontam para uma superioridade
desta substância relativamente aos antidepressivos
SSRIs e SNRIs.
Background: There is a need to improve the efficacy evaluation methods of the antidepressants in order to allow the inclusion of symptoms which express more the improvement of the patient expectations. In the present article we present a discussion about the efficacy evaluation of agomelatine, particularly regarding positive and negative emotions associated with depression. Aims: The main objective of this article is to demonstrate the limitations of the classic methods of antidepressants’ efficacy evalu - ation. Secondarily, it points out the need to find other methods of evaluation in order to include the evaluation of negative and positive emotions linked to depression. Methods: A critic and systematic literature review was carried out about methodology of Antidepressant evaluation efficacy. The literature of agomelatine efficacy was also reviewed. Results and Conclusions: The evalua- tion of Antidepressants efficacy through the traditional scales of Hamilton (HAM-D) or Montgomery Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) have shown limitations which points out to the need of looking to the evaluation of other parameters and symptoms with more value to the patients. The superior efficacy of Agomelatine was shown concerning the evaluation of posi- tive and negative emotions in comparison with SSRIs and SNRIs.
